US GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES $10M REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO IRAN CYBER COMMAND LEADER

US Government Announces $10M Reward For Information On Iran Cyber Command Leader Amir Yaryab
The United States Department of State has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or disruption of activities linked to Amir Yaryab, whom it identified as the leader of the Cyber Operations Command of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Cyber Electronic Command (IRGC-CEC).
The announcement was made under the Department of State’s Rewards for Justice programme, which is operated by the Diplomatic Security Service.
According to the US government, Yaryab occupies a senior position within Iran’s cyber operations structure and directs cyber groups allegedly targeting American critical infrastructure.
The Department of State said Yaryab “leads the Cyber Operations Command for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – Cyber Electronic Command,” adding that he allegedly directs groups including Shahid Hemmat and Shahid Shushtari to target US critical infrastructure.
The US government described the alleged activities as part of a wider cyber threat posed by Iranian state-linked actors against critical infrastructure and other American interests.
The Rewards for Justice programme urged individuals with credible information about Yaryab, the IRGC-CEC or associated actors and entities to submit confidential tips to US authorities.
The department said individuals who provide useful information may be eligible for a financial reward and possible relocation.
The notice did not publicly disclose the specific criteria that would determine the final amount of any reward or the identity of potential informants.
The US government’s announcement comes amid heightened tensions over cyber activities attributed to Iranian state-linked groups and the broader military confrontation involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
The Department of State specifically named Shahid Hemmat and Shahid Shushtari among the groups it alleges are directed by Yaryab, placing him at the centre of Washington’s allegations concerning the cyber activities of the IRGC-CEC.
The development comes against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, which has resulted in significant destruction and loss of lives.
Earlier, Street News Reporters reported that US President Donald Trump had suggested renaming the strategically important Strait of Hormuz “Trump Strait,” claiming that the waterway was under US control amid the escalating confrontation with Iran.
Trump made the suggestion in a post on his Truth Social platform, writing: “Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT???”
The latest US reward announcement further underscores the growing focus by Washington on Iran’s cyber capabilities and individuals it accuses of directing cyber operations against American interests.
