Officers Petition IGP Over Alleged Three-Month Absence of ACP Ngozi Braide
Some officers serving at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, have petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, over the alleged prolonged absence of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ngozi Braide from her duty post.
The petitioners alleged that Braide had been away from work for about three months and may have travelled outside Nigeria without obtaining the required official approval. They also accused the FCID Annex management of failing to address the situation, saying the alleged inaction has affected discipline, supervision, and operational efficiency within the command.
The officers called on the IGP to order an independent investigation, verify Braide’s attendance, leave, and travel records, determine whether proper procedures were followed, and sanction anyone found culpable in line with the Nigeria Police Act, Police Regulations, and Public Service Rules.
They stressed that the petition was submitted to uphold accountability, fairness, and discipline within the Nigeria Police Force, insisting that no officer, regardless of rank, should be above the law.
