COURT ORDERS NDLEA TO PRODUCE SOCIALITE KC LUXURY OVER CONTINUED DETENTION IN COCAINE CASE

Court Orders NDLEA to Produce KayCee Luxury Over Continued Detention Without Arraignment
The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to produce socialite Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KayCee Luxury, before the court over his continued detention without formal arraignment.
The order followed an ex parte application filed by Afolabi through his counsel, A. Labi-Lawal, SAN, pursuant to the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, 2009.
Afolabi was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while preparing to travel to Paris.
His legal team approached the court after he had spent more than 14 days in custody, alleging that he had not been formally charged or arraigned.
Through the application, Afolabi is asking the court to intervene in what he contends is a violation of his fundamental rights arising from his continued detention.
Arrest Linked to Cocaine Seizure
Street News Reporters had reported on Tuesday, August 18, that the NDLEA arrested Afolabi alongside a logistics company employee, Lawal Kehinde, following the seizure of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in a courier consignment.
The anti-narcotics agency described the seizure as the largest cocaine interception involving a logistics company in its history.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), estimated the value of the seized cocaine at $27.7 million and said the operation formed part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks exploiting legitimate logistics and courier channels.
Court Orders Production
Following Afolabi’s application, the Federal High Court directed the NDLEA to produce him before the court for the matter to be heard.
The order places the agency under a judicial obligation to present the detained socialite before the court as his legal challenge over the circumstances of his continued detention proceeds.
The case is expected to address the legality of Afolabi’s continued detention and the allegations contained in his fundamental rights application.
